The National Center of Outdoor Heritage

Keep the Campfire Burning: Welcome to the National Center of Outdoor Heritage.

Preserving the skills, gear, and spirit of the classic trail. Join the movement to build the permanent home for traditional campcraft and living history.

A Legacy Written in Canvas, Cast Iron, and Woodsmoke

The golden age of camping—the era of Kephart, Nessmuk, and the early woodspeople—laid the foundation for how we connect with the wild. But as modern technology takes over the outdoors, the traditional skills, handcrafted gear, and rich history of classic woodcraft are quietly fading.

The National Center of Outdoor Heritage (NCOH) is dedicated to stopping that fade.

Our mission is to build a physical museum, educational headquarters, and living history archive to preserve the knowledge of American outdoor recreation heritage spanning pre-history to the modern age. But a center like this isn’t built by a single person. It is built by a community that refuses to let the old ways die.

We Are Building a Museum. We Need Your Hands on the Canvas.

To fund the physical creation of the NCOH, gather historical artifacts, and host traditional skills masterclasses, we established our foundational community: The Campcrafter’s Guild.

The Guild is the engine that powers the NCOH. When you become a member of the Guild, your dues directly fund the preservation of outdoor heritage, the acquisition of historical artifacts, and the eventual construction of our physical museum.

In return, you get an exclusive seat around our digital campfire.

“The Guild isn’t just a subscription; it is an active fellowship of historians, makers, and traditional woodsmen working together to keep the old ways alive.”

What We Are Building Together

We aren’t just talking about preserving history; we are putting shovels in the ground. Every tier of Guild membership directly fuels the next phase of the NCOH master plan. Here is exactly what your support is building:

Step Into the Guild

Networking

Unlike Facebook groups with spambots and limited tools and resources to connect with like minded people nearby or long distances, our community cultivates a networking mindset. A specific emphasis on introductions, chat features and spaces, and search tools allow members to easily identify members who live nearby so get-togethers and clubs can be formed. There are special courses and resources to help members start clubs and even events!

Safety

Unlike Facebook and other social media platforms, your information and habits will not be collected, used, or sold to the highest advertisement bidder. There is a saying, “If you are not paying for the product then YOU are the product.” There are also tremendous security features that Circle has in place so your account will not be hacked. There is also the comfort that since members are paying to be here, there is a financial stake to make the most of the experience! “Trolls” and “keyboard warriors” will naturally be less due to this and our community is a professional and monitored community with a hard stance on ensuring the comfort and safety of our members. Traditional professionalism is the language and behavior expectations of the community!

Behind every challenge lies an opportunity for unparalleled assistance. We understand the intricacies of your needs and are committed to providing prompt assistance every step of the way. I am the creator of this community and I am eager to support you any way that I can!
