Masculinity and paternity in the outdoors anyone?

Are you a father/stepfather or grandfather who would like a space to share and get ideas for spending time with your kids or grandkids doing outdoor adventure? This will be a community space of fatherhood promoting spending time with young ones as a parent and mentor, building relationships with them and navigating the different stages and abilities of a young person’s life. I’m considering creating one if there is enough interest! I am casting a wide net, not just here. If you know of someone outside of the Guild who would be interested please tell them about it and send them the following link so I can get their email and keep them updated: https://forms.gle/nAEXxkTcBF4qFDc4A

  1. This topic brings to mind an old article in a sporting magazine that describes a father and son exiting their vehicle to enter a local public access woodland.

A do gooder citizen reported this to law enforcement.

Subsequently, the Father and Son were approached by an officer who investigated them in an aggressive way.

The emotional trauma of the encounter spoiled the moment and caused the family to cease their outing.

Certainly, suspicious behavior of inappropriate conduct between minors and adults is a concern.

    How can we avoid this?

    • How horrible! I wonder if this was in a suburban community…I think an instance like that would be extremely unlikely in the rural area I live. Heck, every kid that has an active father in their life has wanted to be a part of my Troop and go on with their Scout…which is unusual in the city troops 15 minutes away.
